Hi, I’m Alana.

Photographing the smile on your kids’ faces as they run into your arms, capturing the way your dad holds your hand on your wedding day or the look on your husband’s face as he holds your newborn in the hospital room - these are the moments I’m after.

I’ve been taking pictures for as long as I can remember and it’s one of my favorite ways to interact with the world. I got serious about doing this work in Berlin in 2018, when my first child was born and it’s been such a pleasure to get to know so many wonderful people through the camera.

I’m currently shooting with a Fujifilm XT4, a smaller-profile camera that’s great for helping to put people at ease. In fact I consider one of my main roles as your photographer to help you feel comfortable.

A long time ago, I went to school for Journalism and that’s maybe where my documentary style comes from. I like to capture people when they’ve forgotten I’m there and really just hang out with you for a little while until we hit our stride.

Before settling in Berlin in 2016, I founded Radish Lab in Brooklyn, New York, but don’t be fooled - I’m a Canadian who grew up in southern Ontario. I live in Schoneberg with husband, Adam, and our two young children.
